A herd we were
For timeless eons
Together against the strife
of nature

Yet something changed
Untold years ago
To make us unique
Unlike the past

That idea changed
The core of thought
From us to I
We laboriously migrated

I is what makes us
unique
Yet us is what got
Us here

Should we abandon the
herd so quickly
To walk alone
In uncharted lands

Or pay homage to our roots
That which brough us into consciousness
To be the Gods of the Earth
All seeing yet not all knowing

Evolution must again
Play its part
To separate us
From those before

We are but a bridge
To the omnipotence
That the future
Brings

A rope stretched out
over a deep chasm
Full of the darkness
That yearns to take us

With care we must tread
Softly over the sheet
Of ice between
Heaven and hell

With time we will forget the ground and fly
