AJ is a 5th year student at Syracuse University pursuing a B.Arch with a Minor in Psychology. His interests and research revolve around virtual environments and their interface with the physical, and he has been a SOURCE Fellow for the past year and a half pursuing this research. AJ is currently living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark for Cobe and was in Chicago this past summer for an internship with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He has worked as a member of MATR Lab, copy-editor for The Architecture of the Bight of Biafra, teaching assistant for multiple introductory architecture classes, designer at his father’s firm - Laucks architects, and Construction Laborer for Kaiser Martin Construction. He has also completed multiple volunteer design projects for his community, including softball dugouts for his High School, a stair covering for a local church, and a logo for his local police department. AJ recently won the Climate Resilience Architecture Design Excellence Award with four other students as part of the Designing Global Resilience competition in Guangzhou, China. He has also received recognition from Archisource, Archiol, Non-Architecture, and Syracuse SoA. AJ believes that incorporating interdisciplinary ideas into architecture is pivotal, and integrates ideas from philosophy, psychology, sociology, physics, mathematics, and literature in all of his projects. In his free time, AJ is a member of SU’s Volleyball Club Team and Concert Band, and enjoys running, soccer, volleyball, golf, reading, Fortnite, and playing around with AI.
